My story/Mi historia

I identify as a bilingual, bicultural Latina-American woman. My family and I immigrated to the USA from Costa Rica when I was a child. I mention this because these are important factors that influence who I am as a therapist. I honor my descendants, my family and my community through my work. Knowing that by disrupting outdated systems/frameworks and problematic patterns for self and others I am honoring my descendants and laying down a stronger pathway for future generations. When you begin the work to disrupt patterns that no longer serve you, you are also building a stronger pathway for future generations.

I love travel/I love people

I believe that most of our healing/learning comes through relationships. What this means is that we all function in relation to others. We belong to various systems including, work, romance, culture, familial, friendships, self and most of these systems involve others. I have also done work around myself to learn where my story puts me in connection to this world and others. As I worked towards my own healing, it has led me towards comfort, authenticity, softness, strength, vulnerability, connection, and ease.

What I love about being a therapist

This is soul work. Food from the soul for the soul. I believe impacting the world at large starts with each individual heart and story. Exploring areas of our stories and patterns in our current lives that need healing re-arranging, and re-framing can unlock your highest potential creating a ripple effect for everything around you. Witnessing the work each of my clients do to cultivate happiness and still function at their most authentic and highest potential is an honor.

Together we are creating a revolution of hearts individually and it will for sure dip into the collective whole of your community.

Education

I graduated from Andrews University with a bachelors degree in psychology and a masters degree in Social Work from Fordham University. I have training and certifications in trauma therapy. cognitive behavioral therapy, and emotionally focused couples counseling. What this means is that I am interested in how you function in relationship to yourself and to others. In my 8 years of practice, I am committed to a holistic, decolonized and integrated approach to our mental health.
